NOTES FROM HOME (1987)

Picture

If you had to condense the story of Australian popular music into half an hour, the result might look something like this show. Co-produced by the Powerhouse Museum and the ABC's ChED (Children's & Educational Department), it was part of a series on broader Australian popular culture, and it was a great experience for me to research and co-write for three reasons: One, it was my first job in television; two, it took me out of my (mainly rocky) comfort zone and into deeper history territory; and three, the money I earnt doing it paid for my first trip to the US at the end of 1987.
