The new Buried Country enjoyed a Melbourne launch on Wednesday, March 25, at the Spotted Mallard in Brunswick, which, in association with PBS show Homebrew, presented a screening of the film along with a Q&A with me conducted by the lovely Maddy Macfarlane. It was a great night. It never ceases to amaze me the intensity of feeling Buried Country seems to be able to generate, even in me, watching the film, going through it all over again, it still fells fresh, and certainly, with the number of its characters who've now passed away, it is moving. The wonderful folks from PBS made it all easy; remember public radio remains the future! We celebrated with an after party the next day at Handsome Steve's House of Refreshment in Fitzroy, before proceeding the next night to the closing party of Peter Milne's photo exhibition Juvenilia at the Strange Neighbour, which all-up made a wonderful whirlwind weekend in Melbourne. |
